The Venice Biennale A project that redefines the exhibition venues at the Arsenale and in the Giardini has been approved by the Biennale Board. At the Arsenale, the Italian Pavilion at the Tese delle Vergini will be enlarged, encompassing a second building, and thereby expanding the surface area from 800 sq.m. to 1,800 sq.m., overlooking the neighbouring Giardino delle Vergini. In this way, the Pavilion will be linked to a new, major public entrance to the Arsenale, to be effected via a new bridge between the Giardino and the Sestiere di Castello. The renewal will already be in place for the 53rd International Art Exhibition (7 June > 22 November 2009).
